In November 2022 I had the opportunity to attend the ILHC Europe Lindy Hop and Solo Jazz Championships. For the first time a European qualifying edition of these championships, which always took place in Washington and New York, was held in Sofia, Bulgaria.
It was an intense weekend, but really great to reconnect with the European (and global) Lindy Hop community. I saw so many friends I hadn't seen in years.
I entered the Advanced Draw Lindy Hop contest and was lucky to get into the finals and even luckier to draw Pedro Vieira as my partner. What a pleasure to dance again together after so many years!
After winning the first prize🥇, some people asked if Pedro was my dance partner or a close friend with whom I often danced. Also, if we had prepared the competition in any way before the finals. The truth is that we hadn't seen each other since 2017 or 2018. Fortunately, we were able to dance one song before the finals started. We didn't prepare anything, but I felt more at ease knowing that I could follow him perfectly and that he was relaxed enough for me to find my space and my voice in the dance.
