2. Improve your connection with your partner
A fluid swing out depends on communication between both dancers. Being symmetrical (in terms of distance, movement, intensity of connection, etc.) can make a big difference. Whether you're leading or following, try to maintain a stable connection, be aware of your partner's movement, and learn to interpret their cues or responses.
3. Practice in a focused way
Practice is key to consolidating improvements. Attend classes, participate in workshops, and consider taking private lessons to work on this step in detail. To practice the swing out, ask a friend to rehearse with you. Start with a slow tempo and, as you feel more comfortable, gradually increase the pace.

Incorporating variations can also add a unique and personal touch to your dance. You can complement your learning with online resources such as this course with more than 35 swing out variations for all levels, from beginner to advanced.

5. Dance a lot
The best way to improve your swing out is by dancing with different people in different settings. Each dance offers you a new connection, a different dynamic, and the opportunity to adapt to other styles and bodies. Dancing regularly will help you put what you learn in class and in your focused practices into practice, hone your sensitivity to connection, and develop greater confidence in your movement.
6. Travel
People dance differently all over the world. Even in the neighbouring city, local lindy hoppers may use slightly different techniques: more counterbalance, less displacement, more or less bounce, etc. These small differences make the lindy hop even more interesting. Travelling to exchanges and festivals allows you to experience these variations in the dance, which enriches your own technique and ultimately helps you become a better and more versatile dancer.
